What is Penultimate Fantasy?

Penultimate Fantasy is a concept for a musical inspired by the video games I love and grew up with, primarily JRPGs, especially of the SNES era. As the name implies, it will take a lot of inspiration from the Final Fantasy series, but also games like Chrono Trigger, Nier: Automata, Persona, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It’s not meant to be a recreation of the stories of any of these games, but instead it is inspired by them and uses what elements make sense narratively (or is just plain fun and I can find a way to work them in).

This publication will serve as a place to get updates on the project and also provide feedback or ideas via comments. I’m not specifically looking for collaborators as of yet. This is a long term (multi-year) project and it’s still in very early stages. All assets are placeholders for now.
